Travis Hartman

Travis enlisted in the USMC in 2012 at the age of 20 years old. During his time in the USMC Travis was in direct support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Helman Province Afghanistan. Travis’s role as an IDD (Improvised Device Detection Dog) handler was crucial in detecting improvised explosive devices to ensure safe freedom of movement for his fellow Marines.

After Travis left the USMC in 2016, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Colorado: Colorado Springs to further his knowledge of law and security-related fields. In 2019 Travis began a career in the commercial field of canine when joined K2 Solutions, Inc. as a Person-Borne explosive detection canine handler. While with K2 Solutions, Inc. Travis was responsible for providing canine coverage and support for Google HQ in Northern California to support the day-to-day safety of Google’s employees. During his time at K2 Solutions, Inc. he also completed a graduate-level certificate in security management from the University of Southern Mississippi to further his knowledge of security threat groups and risk analysis.

In 2022 Travis was promoted to regional team leader at K2 Solutions, Inc. During his time as team leader, he was responsible for assisting with the performance of seven handlers as well as consulting the client on all K9-related capabilities for security integration. During his time as team leader, he also conducted multiple explosive sweeps for high-level executives at Google and the NFL to ensure the protection of individuals and assets.

Most recently Travis has pursued a career as an Army Green Beret with the goal of becoming a K9 handler on an ODA. Unfortunately, Travis developed a medical issue that prevented him from completing his training. Travis is now aiming to return to the K9 handling work that he is passionate about to continue the mission of keeping his community safe.

Some of Travis’ hobbies include K9 training, endurance running, Olympic weightlifting, marksmanship, mountain biking, and philosophical debates.
